This Eagles draft pick is back on the team for a 3rd time

PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles have reunited with one of their former draft picks.

The Eagles signed edge rusher Tarron Jackson on Monday, the team announced. This will be Jackson’s third stint with the Eagles.
Jackson was one of three players, along with defensive tackle David Blay and running back Ja’Quinden Jackson, who worked out for the Eagles on Sunday and were signed Monday.
Jackson is back with the Eagles after starting his NFL career in Philadelphia. The former Coastal Carolina standout was a sixth-round pick (No. 191) by the Eagles in 2021.

(AP Photo/Chris Szagola)APJackson appeared in 17 games as a rookie in 2021, recording 18 tackles, two TFLs and a sack. In 2022, Jackson appeared in four games and did not log any defensive stats.
Jackson spent the 2023 season on the Eagles’ practice squad. He joined the Panthers for a few months at the start of the 2024 preseason and season before being released.
Jackson then started a second stint with the Eagles. He was signed to the practice squad in November 2024 and was released a month later.
Jackson signed with the 49ers’ practice squad in January 2025 and was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury at the start of training camp.
So, how will Jackson’s third stint with the Eagles go?
Frankly, it’s highly improbable that Jackson will make the roster. Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith are locked in. A.J. Epenesa and Arnold Ebiketie are virtual locks, as well. It seems likely that the Eagles will carry five edge rushers on the 53-man roster.

But the Eagles liked what they saw in him when they drafted him back in 2021. And they liked what they saw from Sunday’s workout; they wouldn’t have signed him otherwise.
Perhaps Jackson can continue to impress the Eagles’ coaching staff in training camp and land a spot on the practice squad.
