Geraldo Perdomo hit in head by line drive, exits with head contusion

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo left a Sunday, Sept. 6 game against the Houston Astros when he was hit by a teammate's line drive while on the basepaths.
Perdomo singled in the top of the third inning, and the next batter, Ketel Marte, hit an 93 mph line drive. Perdomo tried to get out of the way and covered up but was hit on the helmet. He dropped to the ground and was looked at by a trainer, eventually was helped up and left on his own power.

He was ruled out because he was hit by a batted ball. Nolan Arenado hit a two-run home run in the inning to give Arizona a 3-1 lead.
Perdomo was replaced at shortstop by Ildemaro Vargas, and Tim Tawa took Vargas' spot at first base.

Geraldo Perdomo injury update
The Diamondbacks announced Sunday that Perdomo suffered a head contusion on the play.
"He will continue to be monitored today and into tomorrow," the team said.
