Higgins did complete an individual workout on the rehab field at the start of practice.
Higgins' status isn't known for Sunday's game in Miami. The Bengals have a Week 6 bye.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Higgins would be limited Oct. 7. Higgins was not dressed in uniform and watched from the sideline.
Taylor said Higgins' teammate, Ja'Marr Chase, remains in concussion protocol and is being monitored day-to-day. Chase left during the fourth quarter of the team's NFL Week 4 loss to Jacksonville to be evaluated for a concussion and did not return.
Two days earlier, Taylor said Higgins is "day to day" with an adductor injury he suffered against Jacksonville.
Higgins got up slowly after a 19-yard catch near the sideline from quarterback Joe Burrow. Higgins got up, but then took a knee and required attention from team medical personnel.
Higgins returned to the game later in the drive, and made a catch on his first play back in the game. He was not on the field for the Bengals' final drive of the game.
Higgins had a game-high 10 catches for 140 receiving yards before the injury. He added a 17-yard catch, giving him a total of 157 receiving yards, second only to the 194-yard game he had against Baltimore in 2021.
"You can tell he's not quite 100 percent," CBS analyst Robert Turbin said of Higgins during the broadcast.
Earlier in the game, Chase had his facemask grabbed by Jaguars defensive back Jarrian Jones. Chase went to the ground and took a big hit from linebacker Ventrell Miller.
Turbin said he couldn't believe Miller's hit on Chase didn't draw a flag.
